Rolesville High School did not take long to find its next head football coach.
The Rams are promoting defensive coordinator Kevin Reddick to the role. He has been running the program on an interim basis as Ranier Rackley has accepted a job with the Duke University football program.
Reddick is a native of New Bern, where he played for the New Bern Bears’ football team. He was on the Bear team that ended Independence’s state championship streak. Reddick was named the MVP of the 2007 4AA state championship game thanks to his two key touchdowns in the 28-17 victory.
A 4-star prospect, Reddick chose to attend the University of North Carolina out of high school.
At UNC, Reddick compiled nearly 300 tackles and was named first-team All-ACC as a senior.
Reddick went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft, but he went on to enjoy stints on the rosters of the New Orleans Saints, San Diego Chargers, Carolina Panthers, and Buffalo Bills.
While at Rolesville, Reddick has led some of the fiercest defenses in North Carolina. Over the past two seasons, Rolesville’s defense gave up just 13.1 points-per-game and 14.8 points-per-game despite playing tough non-conference and conference schedules.
