With the No. 15 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft this coming Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can go in so many directions, and it seems like the possibilities for Tampa Bay are only increasing by the minute with more mock drafts and rumors speculating that Jason Licht could go “best avaiable” again and even spurn Todd Bowles the defensive help he so badly needs.
Offensive line, wide receiver, and, of course, tight end Kenyon Sadiq are all on the table for the Buccaneers general manager, though Licht has to be feeling the heat this year after how horribly the Bucs collapsed in the 2025 NFL regular season.
The biggest dream pick for the Bucs, especially after Lavonte David’s retirement, has to be instinctive Ohio State Buckeyes alumn Sonny Styles. Very early in the pre draft process, Styles was the most commonly mocked player to Tampa Bay, but that changed as more and more fans started to become wise to Styles’s quality – and then his insane NFL Combine performance in Indianapolis seemed to seal him as a top-10 pick, if not a top-5 guy.
The New York Giants might not draft Sonny Styles
However, the NFL Draft is as fickle as the Cleveland wind, and in an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, legendary draft analyst Todd McShay and the show’s esteemed host both divulged that the “word on the street” is that the New York Giants do not want one of their most popularly mocked options, Mr. Sonny Styles, with the No. 5 pick in the draft this year. Styles’s teammate Carnell Tate at wide receiver, meanwhile, continues to be a frequently mentioned target for the G-Men.
Now, Styles not going to New York obviously does not guarantee that he will be there for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10 picks later at 15, but it does increase the chances of that fall happening significantly. It also increases their chances of pulling off a trade up for Styles if they’re interested. Not only does it take the Giants off the board, if this is indeed the case and not a late smoke screen, but it may also be a view other teams in the top-10 share.
All the Buccaneers need for that little bit of Styles hope and a shot at their ultimate dream linebacker of the future is for two or three teams to fall in love with another prospect or want to address another area of need, especially an offensive one with a guy like Kenyon Sadiq or Carnell Tate.
