The Cleveland Browns have begun their offseason workouts under new head coach Todd Monken, and for the most part, it’s gone smoothly.

Granted, it is voluntary, but the idea is that as many players attend as possible, but one who hasn’t is star defensive end Myles Garrett.

And for whatever reason, this has captured the attention of the NFL world, when in truth, it isn’t a big deal.

Monken was asked about Garrett’s absence, and he delivered the perfect response.

“It hasn’t been a lot. It’s fine,” Monken said via NFL.com. “This is voluntary. We’re making a big deal out of this. We really are. It’s voluntary. We have other guys besides Myles that aren’t here. I wish they were here. They’ll be ready. We expect them to be ready. And we’ll be fired up when they’re here.”

Browns not sweating Garrett no-show

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure why Garrett not showing up to voluntary workouts has created such a storm. It isn’t like many expected him to anyway, right?

I get it from the standpoint that you have a new coach, so get in the building to show your support for him as the franchise’s leader, but, as Monken stated, this is people making a big deal out of nothing.

Other players aren’t in the building, so there is nothing to be concerned with when it comes to Garrett, even though some suggest otherwise.

If he doesn’t report to begin training camp, then the Browns have a problem. Until then? It’s as you were.
