WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Thursday, April 23, marks six months since the shooting that killed a 32-year-old father and coach at a Wichita park. While 200 to 300 people were gathered nearby for a youth football game, police haven’t arrested anyone in and continue seeking tips that they hope will crack the case.
Travon Stewart, affectionately known as “Coach Factor,” died after being shot on the night of Oct. 23, 2025, at Dr. Glen Dey Park (formerly Grove Park) in the 2800 block of Grove Street, southwest of K-96 and Hillside.
When he was shot, Stewart was at the park selling concessions as a fundraiser for a football team not affiliated with the Wichita Junior Football League, of which the two teams playing that night represented.
A GoFundMe page established to help Stewart’s family said the man, known by many as “Coach Factor,” was a pillar in the Wichita youth football community.”
He would’ve turned 33 years old on Dec. 2.
Since November, Crime Stoppers of Wichita/Sedgwick County has been offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
