Florida State has labeled one of the most talented defensive backs in the 2028 class, Phoenix Evans, as one of their targets. The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder took to social media to announce that FSU has extended him a scholarship offer.

“After a conversation with @CoachGMoss I am Grateful 🙏🏽 Florida State Offered #NoleFamily 🍢,” Evans wrote.

He is now up to around 40 offers in total. Evans also has offers from Florida, Indiana, Miami, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, USC, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and more.

Evans played his first two years of high school football at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida for his junior season. He racked up 39 tackles, two tackles for loss, 11 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery as a sophomore in 2025.

For his play, Evans has received some very high recognition so far. He’s been named a MaxPreps All-American twice, and he earned defensive back MVP honors at an Under Armour Next event.

Evans is the No. 78 player, the No. 4 safety, and the No. 16 recruit in Florida per the 247Sports composite. He’s the No. 81 player, the No. 6 cornerback, and the No. 17 prospect in Florida according to the Rivals industry rankings.
