Ty Simpson, a native of Martin, Tennessee, attended Alabama out of high school. Per 247Sports, Simpson signed with Alabama over a number of offers that included Oregon, Ole Miss, Tennessee and more.

What kind of prospect was Ty Simpson in high school?

Ty Simpson was a five-star quarterback at Westview High School. He was ranked as one of the top quarterback prospects in the country, ranking as high as No. 21 overall, the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2022 and the No. 2 player in Tennessee behind Walter Nolen, depending on the recruiting service.

Simpson was named Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year during his senior season after throwing for 2,827 yards and 41 touchdowns to just three interceptions, while also rushing for 862 yards and 11 scores. He led Westview to the Tennessee 2A state title in 2021. As a junior, he passed for 1,888 yards and 20 touchdowns on 203 attempts while rushing for 311 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Simpson also competed in the all-star camp circuit, participating in Nike’s “The Opening” and earning a selection to the All-American Bowl.

Ty Simpson didn’t start a game for Alabama until his redshirt junior year, his final with the program. When Simpson started all 15 games as a senior, he led the Tide to an 11-4 record, winning a first round College Football Playoff game before losing in the Rose Bowl to eventual national champion Indiana.
