JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Former ETSU running back Devontae Houston is getting his shot at the next level, receiving a minicamp invite from the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Houston is coming off one of the most impressive seasons by a running back in program history becoming just the seventh player for ETSU to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in a single season with 1,008.

The Alabama native also led the Buccaneers with 13 total touchdowns, the fifth most by a Buc in a single season. He recorded five 100-yard rushing performances, including a season-high 171 yards against Chattanooga in October.
Houston made an immediate impact to open the season, rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Murray State, earning SoCon Offensive Player of the Week honors.
In addition to his work in the backfield, Houston contributed on special teams as ETSU’s primary kick returner, averaging 24 yards per return. He was also named first-team All-SoCon by the league’s coaches following the season and now looks to turn his collegiate success into an opportunity at the NFL level.
