When the Minnesota Vikings fired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah from their general manager position, one of the biggest reasons was the poor use of trades. He continuously got bad value across the board. There were a few trades that showcased positive value, most notably the one with the Green Bay Packers for the right to select wide receiver Christian Watson.

After one draft at the helm for the Vikings, interim general manager Rob Brzezinski made three trades, and none of them gave the Vikings severely negative value back in terems of draft picks. Now, we can discuss whether or not he should have gotten more when sending Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles, but that’s a separate conversation.

Minnesota Vikings have healthy draft pick future

Over the course of the last few months, the NFL Draft outlook for the Vikings has changed significantly. They are currently slated to have eight NFL Draft picks, with a potential ninth with the compensatory formula.

There have been a multitude of trades that the Vikings have made over the last few months that have changed the outlook.

Vikings acquired 3rd round pick from the Eagles in Greenard trade

Adam Thielen trade sent the Vikings’ fourth-round pick for the Panthers’ fifth-round pick

The seventh-round pick from the Eagles is a result of the Sam Howell trade

Overall, nine selections is a good thing for the Vikings, as the 2027 NFL Draft looks to be one of the best in recent memory. The lack of a fourth-round pick is a tough one, but the two fifth-round picks and a total of five projected on day three would give the Vikings plenty of ammunition to move up if they so choose.

This is a much healthier spot for the Vikings moving forward, and whoever they end up bringing in as the general manager will be able to use these to build up the roster for a potential Super Bowl run.
