The Minnesota Vikings‘ defense has improved substantially over the past two seasons. But as long as Kevin O’Connell is their head coach, the Vikings’ identity will lie with their offense.

PFF listed every team’s top three players of the 2025 season. For the Vikings, those players are Justin Jefferson, Christian Darrisaw, and Brian O’Neill.

Jefferson ranks second among all wide receivers in cumulative WAR over the last three seasons, behind only Amon-Ra St. Brown. His 88.0 grade in 2024 narrowly missed a fifth straight season above 90.0. Darrisaw played only 392 snaps last year but continues to rank among the league’s best when healthy. O’Neill earned a 0.43 WAR, the third-highest mark on the team in 2024.

These three Vikings play perhaps the most significant roles in 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy’s development. Darrisaw and O’Neill provide perhaps the best offensive tackle tandem in the league, and Jefferson is one of the two best receivers in the league.

Paired with O’Connell’s playcalling and background as a quarterback, that helps put McCarthy in good hands in 2025. And if they can help McCarthy reach his potential, then Jefferson, Darrisaw, and O’Neill will truly prove their worth as offensive cornerstones.
