The Baltimore Ravens gave Diego Pavia a chance.

The Vanderbilt quarterback went undrafted through seven rounds of the NFL Draft. He didn’t initially get an undrafted free agent contract, either.
He had to settle for a rookie minicamp invite from Baltimore, which soon turned into a more official undrafted contract.
Pavia is short, and his arm talent isn’t immense, and he had off-field concerns.
But he also turned around a college football program at Vandy that seemed like it would never be competitive. And he did it with swagger and playmaking that were hard to match.
All that to say: Pavia earned an opportunity.
That’s a piece of the message the Ravens’ new head coach, Jesse Minter, had for him.

“So now he’s in the door, and it’s like, ‘Show us what you can do,’” Minter told reporters on Saturday, via ESPN. “And just like all the undrafted rookies, that’s what I would say.”

Pavia wasn’t made available to talk to the media, so all the insights that can be gleaned from public comments will have to come from Minter for now.
“For us, we see it as an opportunity to bring a player in that could potentially be something, and that’s really what this is for us,” Minter added.
Pavia will be competing for a spot as the Ravens’ third QB or a practice squad player.

Baltimore has Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley entrenched as its top-two quarterbacks.
Pavia is in rookie minicamp with another undrafted player, Joe Fagnano out of UConn.
The Ravens could also bring in more QB options as the offseason continues, but that has to be out of Pavia’s concern. He simply has to perform in the spot he’s been provided.
