A former Nebraska defensive lineman is changing positions in the NFL. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are switching Nash Hutmacher from defensive tackle to offensive guard.

Hutmacher has never played offensive line in his football career. He joined the Bucs as an undrafted free agent after going unselected in the 2025 NFL draft.

The former Husker played at Nebraska from 2020 to 2024. He appeared in 49 games and recorded 79 tackles, 12 1/2 for loss and 6 1/2 sacks.

It’s clear Tampa Bay sees potential in the 6-foot-4, 310-pound lineman, but learning a new position at the professional level is a fascinating experiment. Tampa Bay needs depth on the offensive line, and clearly, Hutmacher’s physicality and background are seen as something that could help the team.
