The Kansas City Chiefs may have found a true diamond in the rough by signing former Cincinnati Bearcats wide receiver Jeff Caldwell as a free agent after the 2026 NFL Draft.
One metric that modern draftniks use to evaluate a player’s athletic profile is “Raw Athletic Score,” which combines several variables to determine a score on a 0-10 scale.
Given Caldwell’s outstanding athleticism, it should come as no surprise that the Cincinnati standout scored a perfect 10.0 on the RAS scale, garnering comparisons to Detroit Lions legend Calvin Johnson, who also achieved a perfect mark and shares some striking similarities to Kansas City’s rookie on paper.
Caldwell was never considered to be a top pass-catcher in his class, but he possesses rare athletic traits that made him stand out in pre-draft testing.
No single metric can determine a prospect’s future, but if Caldwell’s 10.0 RAS is any indication, Kansas City may have found its next breakout star without spending a draft pick.
