Former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Landon Young has been signed by the New York Jets. This was first reported on Sunday morning by Zack Rosenblatt, who covers the Jets with The Athletic. Young had been given a tryout with the Jets at their rookie minicamp this weekend and had shown enough to be offered a contract by the team.
Landon Young has been with the New Orleans Saints for all five years of his NFL career. The Saints selected Young in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft from the Kentucky Wildcats with the 206th overall choice. Young appeared in 10 games with New Orleans as a rookie, making one start. Between 2022 and 2024, Young appeared in 46 of a possible 51 games while starting 11 contests. Over his first four seasons, Young played 881 offensive snaps with another 215 on special teams. Most of those reps were at offensive tackle, with the majority on the right side.

Young had began to see some time at guard in last year’s training camp. However, he suffered an ankle injury in the Saints preseason finale and would miss the entire 2025 season while on injured reserve. Young entered free agency this offseason, with New Orleans making little effort to re-sign him. The Saints have two top-tier starters at tackle with Kelvin Banks Jr and Taliese Fuaga. Competition for the backup jobs will be between Asim Richards, Xavier Truss, Barry Wesley, and undrafted rookies Alan Herron and Alex Wollschlaeger.
