What’s better than a slate of NFL games this fall? How about an even bigger slate of NFL games this fall? That’s what NBC Sports is cooking up, as the network has officially added an extra game that’ll land late in the upcoming season just as teams are gearing up for a playoff push.
How to Watch
Watch Sunday Night Football on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
NBC Sports has acquired an additional NFL regular-season game to be played on Saturday, January 2, 2027, which will air on NBC and stream exclusively on Peacock. The extra game will be a Week 17 afternoon matchup at 4:30 p.m. ET on January 2, and will be followed by the Peacock NFL Exclusive Game at 8 p.m. ET.

New NBC & Peacock Week 17 NFL ScheduleSaturday, January 2, 2027 (4:30 PM ET) – NFL Holiday Special (NBC, Peacock) Saturday, January 2, 2027 (8 PM ET) – Peacock NFL Exclusive Sunday, January 3, 2027 (8:20 PM ET) – Sunday Night Football (NBC, Peacock)
Looking at the wider Week 17 schedule, that means three games will be airing and streaming across NBC and Peacock that week, with the two Saturday games on January 2 and (of course) the regularly scheduled Sunday Night Football game on January 3. Considering it’s the second to last regular season weekend of the season, all three games could have major playoff implications, as plenty of teams will be vying to either make the NFL Playoffs, or lock in better positioning.

“We’re excited to work with our partners at the NFL to acquire an additional game for NBCUniversal platforms at a crucial point on the schedule,” Rick Cordella, President, NBC Sports, said in a statement. “With three NFL games in exclusive national windows on the season’s penultimate weekend, we continue to deliver for our owned stations, affiliates and partners.”
With the addition of the extra Saturday game, NBC Sports will now present 26 NFL games in the 2026-2027 season. That includes the NFL Hall of Fame Game (Thursday, August 6), 22 regular-season games, and three playoff games (two Wild Card games, including one in primetime on Sunday night January 17, and one Divisional Playoff game).
Of course, Peacock will stream all NBC Sunday Night Football games this season, including playoff games, along with the Football Night in America studio show. Peacock will also stream the exclusive Peacock Sunday Night Football Final after-show, featuring expanded postgame coverage following SNF each week.
