Brock Rechsteiner is sticking with the New Orleans Saints a little while longer. The former Jacksonville State wide receiver and son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner — whose nicknames included “Big Poppa Pump, Freakzilla, Superstar, The Big Bad Booty Daddy, and The Genetic Freak” among other colorful titles — earned an invitation to Saints training camp after trying out over the weekend at rookie minicamp.

He’s a good athlete in his own right at a listed 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, having timed the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds. That added up to an 8.33 Relative Athletic Score, suggesting there’s a lot of untapped potential here. Rechsteiner peaked last year with 36 receptions for 383 yards and 5 touchdown catches, second-most in each category at Jacksonville State.

Good luck to him in a crowded position group. The Saints already had starters returning from last season in Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele before they drafted three rookies (Jordyn Tyson, Bryce Lance, and Barion Brown) and signed Rechsteiner as an undrafted free agent. Other wideouts on the training camp roster include Mason Tipton, Bub Means, Kevin Austin Jr., Ja’Lynn Polk, Trey Palmer, Ronnie Bell, and Damien Alford. Signing Rechsteiner puts them at 13 and brings the team up against the 90-man offseason roster limit. They’ll need to start waiving players to make room for any new pickups.

But that’s something to worry about another time. Here’s what fans on social media had to say about the Saints signing Rechsteiner:
