On Wednesday, Michigan Football landed its highest-ranked commit this cycle, earning a commitment from Chicago Mount Carmel four-star receiver Quentin Burrell.

The four-star wideout selected the Wolverines out of a reported 38 total offers, and his decision came down to either the Wolverines or their historic rival, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
During his announcement video, Burrell sat at a table with a Michigan and a Notre Dame hat and, after announcing his intention to come to Ann Arbor, accidentally put on the Fighting Irish hat instead before quickly correcting his mistake.
Burrell, who sealed his pick after getting a visit from Michigan wide receivers coach Micah Simon and offensive coordinator Jason Beck, said that he believes in the coaching staff as a whole.

“The culture around the program,” Burrell said via MLive. “I believe in (head coach Kyle Whittingham), and I believe in, Coach Simon, the receiver coach. I feel like we can win the natty.”
247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins described Burrell as a player who will be difficult to cover by the opposition, more so because of his size and football IQ rather than speed alone.
“Tends to win with his route-running and overall spacing,” Ivins wrote via 247 Sports. “Makes difficult grabs on the sidelines as he attacks passes with focused hands. Quick to get vertical once the ball is secured and will fight for extra yardage. Can certainly find a top gear, but shouldn’t be classified as a burner, and is the type of wideout that creates more issues for defenders with his size and IQ than his speed. Already embraces the idea of blocking on the perimeter and will work for teammates.”
