The 2026 NFL Draft wrapped up three weeks ago, but it’s never too early to start considering which players the New England Patriots might target in the 2027 NFL Draft.

CBS Sports NFL analyst Josh Edwards released an early mock draft on Tuesday, predicting that the Patriots will select Clemson linebacker Sammy Brown with the 28th pick.
“New England has gotten by with veteran journeymen at the linebacker position, but now identifies a green dot of the future,” Edwards wrote.
Brown has played two seasons at Clemson, participating in 27 games and amassing 98 solo tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. If he can maintain the momentum he built over the past two seasons, there’s a strong possibility he could be a first-round pick.
However, there’s a chance that the Patriots won’t have a first-rounder next season, as they might trade it to acquire Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.

If the Patriots want Brown, they’ll likely need to part with either their first-round pick next year or in 2028. It might be wiser to trade away the 2027 pick to get it over with.
