The New Orleans Saints schedule dropped last week, which means it’s time to predict their record. Obviously, it’s way too early to say anything definitive; however, I currently predict them going 10-7.
10-7 would be a big step forward. With the schedule in mind, it seems much more doable. The Saints have the projected second easiest schedule in 2026, which puts them in an excellent position to win early in Kellen Moore’s tenure.
Below, I’ve highlighted three pivotal points in the Saints season that helped shape my record prediction. None of these are set in stone, as lots can change during the offseason, but this is currently where I see things.
Tyler Shough dominates Jaxson Dart and the Giants
On the surface, this matchup doesn’t seem noteworthy. However, there is contention between fanbases as they argue which second-year quarterback is more impactful: Tyler Shough or Jaxson Dart. As a result, a young rivalry is budding between the two. In my opinion, Shough showcases his potential and dominates a questionable Giants secondary to lead the Saints to an early season victory.
Saints gain crucial win in Paris against the Steelers
This is my pick for the game in which Brandon Staley’s defense turns the corner. It’s realistic to believe they will struggle to start the year. They lost key veterans and have an influx of young talent; it’s going to take time to mesh. However, they will find their footing against Aaron Rodgers and a struggling offense and nab a huge victory in Paris.
Saints go 4-2 in the division
The Saints six divisional matchups are the biggest game of the year. In my opinion, they split games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers and sweep the Atlanta Falcons. These games have historically been close and hard fought battles. The key to Kellen Moore making the playoff is having a winning record in these six matchups.
