Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid have each revealed in recent weeks that Travis Kelce informed them the day after a 6-11 season from hell ended in January that he wanted to return next season.

Kelce, 36, made it official by signing a new contract in March. And last week, the three-time Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Fame tight end learned the exact path the Chiefs will have to trace to restore their dynasty.

Travis and his older brother, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, reviewed the Chiefs’ 2026 season’s schedule on Wednesday’s episode of their “New Heights” podcast. Everyone circled the Chiefs’ Thanksgiving showdown with the Buffalo Bills as soon as it was announced last week, including Kelce.

“Bills is Thanksgiving night, up there in Buffalo, in that beautiful new stadium they got,” Kelce said. “That’ll be electric. Obviously, Pat Mahomes and Josh Allen is always an instant classic, so that will be a fun one on NBC.”

Two-time NFL MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes is rehabilitating from a torn ACL and LCL he suffered last December, but all indications are that he’ll start when the Chiefs open the season by hosting the Denver Broncos on “Monday Night Football” on Sept. 14.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is 5-1 against Mahomes-led Chiefs teams in the regular season, but Mahomes and the Chiefs always get the last laugh, as Mahomes is 4-0 against Allen in the playoffs.

The Chiefs defeated the Bills, 32-29, in the AFC Championship Game to reach their third straight Super Bowl to end the 2024 season. The Chiefs fell short of a three-peat, losing to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

Most recently, Buffalo beat Kansas City, 28-21, in Week 9 of last season. While the 6-11 Chiefs missed the playoffs entirely for the first time since the 2014 season, the Bills suffered yet another playoff heartbreak — this time, at the hands of the Broncos in the AFC Divisional round.
