There’s been a lot of frustration with Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon, whose injury struggles have limited his action on the field. When he’s been healthy, Gordon has been one of the best nickel cornerbacks in the NFL. But, unfortunately, Gordon hasn’t been able to stay out on the field.
Gordon missed 14 games and had two stints on injured reserve last season amid a slew of soft tissue issues including groin, hamstring and calf injuries. So it’s not encouraging that Gordon is already hurt again at this point of the offseason.

According to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs, Gordon is nursing a soft tissue injury despite not reporting to the team’s offseason program in the previous weeks. This is Gordon’s fourth soft tissue injury since last August.

Nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon, who sources said wasn’t with the team at the outset of the offseason program, has since been out with a soft-tissue injury. Gordon missed 14 regular-season games in 2025 and had two stints on injured reserve with groin, hamstring and calf injuries that initially sidelined him in the first week of August.
At this point of the offseason, soft tissue injuries shouldn’t be too big of a concern. But considering Gordon’s recent injury history, including last summer when he was sidelined in August, it’s not encouraging when hoping the former second-round cornerback can stay healthy for an entire season, something he’s yet to do in four seasons.
To make matters worse, former All-Pro Cornerback Jaylon Johnson also hasn’t been present during the offseason program. Although, this is nothing new for Johnson, who’s notably been absent during the voluntary portion of the offseason program. It’s also worth noting Johnson was recently married.
Still, it’s not encouraging for the Bears defense that two of their starting cornerbacks haven’t been with the team this offseason. It makes the selection of fifth-round rookie Malik Muhammad even more important amid uncertainty heading into the 2026 season.
