Kyle Juszczyk has been in the NFL for more than decade, and the 49ers’ fullback has seen his fair share of swole athletes, but the build of rookie Kaelon Black is something that even he is impressed by.
“Kaelon is absolutely jacked,” Juszczyk told Rich Eisen when he joined “The Rich Eisen Show” on Friday. “I don’t know if you’ve seen this guy.”
The 13-year vet gave praise to San Francisco’s safety Malik Mustapha, who he called an “absolute ball of muscle” but added, with Black in the building, the physique competition is fierce.
“This week, Kaelon is walking around with his shirt off, and I’m like, ‘Malik, you’ve got major competition now.’ I think this might be the new most muscular guy in our locker room. So, hopefully he plays as good as he looks, because he looks really good.”
As for the running back’s on-field performance, his 1,040 yards rushing helped lead Indiana to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2025.
“I’ve seen highlight clips of his running and been super impressed,” Juszczyk said. “I know people have mentioned that he didn’t catch a lot of passes at Indiana, but you wouldn’t be able to tell that based on what you see on the practice field. He looks very natural running his routes, very natural hands, and I think he’s going to fit in just perfectly.”
Black had just four receptions for 36 yards during his senior year as a Hoosier, but prior to joining Indiana in 2024, he was heavily involved as a backfield receiver.
The 90th overall pick had 27 receptions for 254 yards as a sophomore at James Madison.
Now, the 24-year-old not only will be able to learn from Juszczyk, but also one of the best dual-threat running backs in the game in Christian McCaffrey.
