The Pittsburgh Steelers have significantly invested in their offensive line in recent years. Two of the latest additions came during the 2026 draft, with Pittsburgh adding Max Iheanachor in the first round and Gennings Dunker in the third. To NFL insider Albert Breer, those two are the cherry on top of what could be a really impressive unit in 2026.
“There’s a lot of good young talent if they can put all of that together: a burgeoning cornerstone at center, who’s just 24, three first-round tackles, and a promising young guard, with a couple of other young guys battling at the other guard spot. All of it could wind up looking really good. And if it does, Rodgers will have a much better chance at a grand finale to his illustrious NFL career,” Breer wrote Tuesday for Sports Illustrated.
The interior of the line inspires plenty of hope for the future. Zach Frazier is the unit’s surest asset, with Breer labeling him a cornerstone for good reason. Since taking the position to start his rookie year, Frazier has been as reliable as Pittsburgh could have asked him to be. And to his right, Mason McCormick has held down the fort at guard.
The left guard position is up in the air. Spencer Anderson can play there, and the Steelers brought in Brock Hoffman, who has previous experience with Mike McCarthy. Gennings Dunker has also gotten some early reps at that spot. He’ll transition from tackle to guard as he adjusts to the NFL.
Things are much more complicated at tackle. Broderick Jones was putting together a solid fourth season before his neck injury. Unfortunately, that injury seriously complicates his 2026 campaign. Troy Fautanu has left tackle experience in college and feels like a natural option to slide over. Dylan Cook, who impressed in relief of Jones, could be in play at right tackle. And Pittsburgh also drafted Iheanachor at that spot for extra insurance.
There are a plethora of ways the line might look like come Week 1. But there is a ton of youth on the unit, much of which has looked impressive to start their respective careers. Breer thinks the Steelers offensive line could be one of the better units in the league this year.
