Travis Kelce isn’t just a single-sport athlete anymore. He’s now extending his burgeoning business empire into the world of baseball as a minority investor in the Cleveland Guardians.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end tells ESPN he’s purchasing a stake in his hometown team.

“I have so much love for this city,” Kelce says. “I say it all the time: I’m just a kid from the Heights living the dream. I credit every good thing in my life to Cleveland and being raised here with the values and the people and the work ethic.”
Kelce already owns stakes in an amusement park company, a mattress company, a beer company, a restaurant and − along with his brother Jason − has a lucrative weekly podcast.

Kelce, 36, has also invested in the Alpine Formula 1 team with Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes.
He becomes yet another active professional athlete to acquire an equity stake in a Major League Baseball team. Mahomes became a minority owner with the Kansas City Royals in 2020. NBA stars LeBron James (Boston Red Sox), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Brewers) and Cade Cunningham (Texas Rangers) have also joined MLB ownership groups in recent years.

Before attending the University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship, Kelce was a star baseball player in the Cleveland area. In his senior season at Cleveland Heights High School in 2008, he hit .588 with six home runs.
