Unsurprisingly, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett was not around in the team’s organized team activities on Wednesday.

The veteran quarterback was also absent from the previous OTAs and voluntary activities.

It’s been made clear that Brissett and the Cardinals are not seeing eye to eye in terms of pay, with the 33-year-old signal-caller looking for a significant pay raise.

Brissett is currently the No. 1 quarterback option for Arizona, but his $4.8 million base salary for the 2026 NFL season is way lower than what other starting quarterbacks are making. Even though the Cardinals are not expected to win a bunch of games, let alone be a contender for a spot in the NFL playoffs, Brissett feels he deserves a fatter paycheck, given his position and role.

In any case, first-year NFL head coach Mike LaFleur is not worried about Brissett’s absence.

“You’ll be hard-pressed to see if Jacoby hasn’t done most of what we have been doing physically,” LaFleur said, via Jess Root of USA TODAY. “It’s word association from that point and cadences and all that kind of stuff.

“The hardest thing to teach a player is the speed of the NFL game in general, and he’s played a lot of ball, so he’ll be just fine.”

Still, the Cardinals will be in a better position the earlier Brissett and LaFleur work together in the offseason, which has yet to happen.

Until the contract standoff between the QB and Arizona gets settled, it’s hard to tell when Brissett will show up.

In 2025, Brissett threw for 3,366 passing yards and 23 touchdowns with eight interceptions on a 64.9 percent completion rate in 14 games (12 starts) for the Cardinals.
