June 1 is quickly approaching, which means that Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown could be heading to the Patriots sometime during the first week of June. However, there was some speculation on Wednesday that both teams are still quite far apart on a trade.

But former New England quarterback Brian Hoyer isn’t too worried about the situation and thinks Brown will end up with the Patriots.

“I think this is just a little bit of white noise before we get to the finish line. I expect A.J. Brown to be a Patriot,” Hoyer said Thursday on “First Things First”.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport indicated that the Patriots and Eagles are still far apart in their trade negotiations, which is why there is now some concern in New England that a deal will get done.

“As far as the actual trade, we’re all waiting for June 1 to happen, so the cap hit is in half for the Philadelphia Eagles and they can trade (Brown),” Rapoport said, via Pro Football Talks Myles Simmons. “I just don’t know that it’s going to be like ‘snap your fingers and the deal is done,’ because the two sides are where they have been — which is the Eagles wanting a first-round pick in 2027. The Patriots — being the most likely destination, we’ll see if someone else arises — but the Patriots (are) not willing to give up a first-round pick, as of right now.

“That means they’re not particularly close, and there’s a chance this could drag on for the foreseeable future.”

The Patriots likely shouldn’t panic if Brown isn’t available in New England during the first week of June, as finalizing a deal could take a few weeks.
