Texas A&M’s 2024 football season was marred by negative storylines stemming from the Aggies’ poor 1-4 finish. The season-ending injury to star running back Le’Veon Moss all but destroyed the offense’s momentum down the stretch, resulting in redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed struggling to find consistency in the pocket.

Texas A&M lacked elite wide receiver play, which included senior Jahdae Walker, who wasn’t utilized enough during his final year with the program, recording 29 receptions, 345 yards, and two touchdowns after recording nearly 600 yards during the 2023 season. What’s interesting is that one of his best games of the year came during the 4OT loss to Auburn, where he reeled in seven receptions for 69 yards and a score.

Standing at 6’3″ and 199 pounds, Walker’s length, soft hands, and above average route running skills made him a sneaky NFL prospect, but after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, it was assumed that the former JUCO standout would become a priority undrafted free agent, which was the case after quickly signining with the Chicago Bears.

During OTAs this week, Walker has continued to put in the work, reeling in the catch of the week on Thursday afternoon after catching a ball that ricocheted off his football, jumping back into his arms, and then quickly jumping back up to run after the catch.

Chicago’s wide receiver rotaton next season is one of the deepest in the NFL, making it unlikely for Walker to make the final roster. However, these reps are highly valuable for a player needing the film to get looked at going into the fall. Either way, this is a great start for the Aggie favorite.
