The athletic fields at Baylor School are getting a major makeover ahead of the FIFA World Cup, as Spain’s national football team prepares to use the campus as its practice grounds, and a Chattanooga company is helping to bring a Spanish flair to the Scenic City.
SpeedPro Chattanooga, a full-service printing and graphics company, was selected to install signage and branding throughout the team’s home base at Baylor School, marking the largest individual project the company has ever taken on.
“We are a full-service printing organization,” said Chad Mize, co-owner of SpeedPro Chattanooga. “So, we do design services, we certainly print, and then we install.”
The Mize family opened SpeedPro Chattanooga in March 2024, with husband and wife Chad and Betsy Mize, and their brother, Kyle.
They could never have anticipated that just two years later, they would land a project tied to one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
“We received an email for a request from ProMotor Events, who are working with the Spanish national team to get everything organized here, just requesting a meeting to meet with us,” said Betsy Mize, co-owner of the company.
In early April, representatives from Spain traveled to Chattanooga to tour the company’s studio and determine whether SpeedPro could handle the extensive project. By the end of the visit, the partnership was official.
“From there, we have worked with them for the last six weeks to go from concept to specifying everything we need to do,” Chad Mize said. “And now what you see here is what we’re executing.”
The company’s work includes installing signs, banners, wall graphics, floor decals and custom flooring throughout Baylor’s campus. Their responsibilities also extend beyond the practice facility.
“And then also at the Embassy Suites Hotel,” Betsy Mize said. “We’ll be doing a lot of work next week to get that ready for the team’s arrival at the end of the week.”
For the Mize family, the project carries special meaning because all three of their children attended Baylor School and have played on the same athletic fields now being prepared for an international soccer powerhouse.
“We have all three of our children out there, and they’re all working. And for it to be the school which our children all go to, the field of which they have played on, it is very fun,” Betsy Mize said.
She described the experience as a “full circle moment” filled with “lots of amazing wow moments.”
The installation process at Baylor only started on Monday, May 25, and installation at the hotel is set to begin at the beginning of next week — meaning the teams will have pulled this project together in just two weeks.
“There’s been challenges with it. The weather hasn’t helped us. It’s been raining almost every day. All of that kind of stuff we didn’t plan for, but you adapt to it and you overcome it, and then you just make it happen,” said Chad Mize.
Chad says he’s most proud of the way the family has worked together on this project.
“My brother, Kyle, has been the lead point person for this, and he’s worked his tail off. And he’s working his tail off with the installation team coordinator, where the rest of these banners are going up.”
