Over the summer, NFL teams conduct organized team activities (OTAs) to ramp up their preparation for the new season. Dallas is scheduled to host OTAs on the following dates: June 1-2, June 4, June 8-9, and June 11.
The Cowboys officially started their offseason workout program in late April. The NFL classifies the OTA portion of the workout program as Phase Three. In Phase One, activities are limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation. In Phase Two, teams can conduct on-field workouts at a walk-through pace, with no live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills.
During OTAs, live contact isn’t allowed, but teams can run 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills.
After OTAs, the Cowboys will conduct their mandatory minicamp from June 16-18. There are plenty of storylines to watch in this year’s OTAs, including George Pickens’ attendance. The receiver officially signed his $27.3 million non-exclusive franchise tender in April.
The Cowboys announced their preseason schedule last week.
