New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave had a rough 2024 season, his third year in the NFL. However, Olave is still expected to be a top weapon in new Saints coach Kellen Moore’s offense in 2025.

This has been recognized by Pro Football Focus analyst Trevor Sikkema, who ranked the top 32 wide receivers coming into the 2025 NFL season according to their site. Olave came in at No. 24 according to Sikkema:

Talent-wise, Olave could rank higher on this list. He has earned receiving grades of 82.9, 82.9 and 83.0 in his first three seasons, showing impressive consistency. However, his concussion history is a growing concern. A fully healthy season could easily propel him into the top 20.

Sikkema had Olave ranked seventh inside the Tier 4 (out of six tiers) of wideouts. Olave was fourth among NFC South wide receivers behind Chris Godwin (No. 18), Drake London (No. 11), and Mike Evans (No. 9).

The Saints selected Olave with the 11th overall choice in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Ohio State. He was the third receiver drafted that year, behind Drake London by the Falcons and Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson by the Jets. Both London (11th) and Wilson (13th) were ranked ahead of Olave by Sikkema and PFF. Olave ended his Ohio State Buckeyes career as the school’s all-time leader in touchdown receptions and second in catches and receiving yardage.

Over his first two years with the Saints, Olave caught 159 passes for 2,165 yards and scored 9 touchdowns. He went over 1,000 yards in both seasons, becoming just the fourth player to have 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his first two years with New Orleans. Olave failed to hit three straight 1,000-yard campaigns in 2024 because of injuries. Concussions limited him to only eight games, including one that knocked him out for the year in Week 9. In those eight outings, Olave had 32 receptions for 400 yards and a score.

New Orleans picked up Olave’s fifth-year option this offseason. Ignore the rumors that he could be traded before the season. Those ”reporting” that have had zero sources. Olave’s concussion history is a concern. However, he’ll be a vital part of the Saints offense for new head coach Kellen Moore in 2025.
