Trent Williams has an interesting theory on why the 49ers will face the Rams in Australia and Los Angeles fans might not be happy with it.
“I mean, it took away a home game in my opinion,” Williams told reporters on Wednesday. “It’s probably why we have to go to Australia to play the Rams to kind of cover up some of the deficiencies when it comes to the ticket sales on that game when we go to LA. I’ll just leave it at that.”

SoFi Stadium has been a home away from home for 49ers fans as they’ve taken over the building in recent years and turned the Rams’ home field into enemy territory – something even Los Angeles’ players have taken notice of.
#Rams S Quentin Lake’s honest reaction to the LA Rams playing the #49ers at SoFi Stadium is priceless:
“We get to the game, and like we’re coming out of the tunnel and I’m like, why, why do I hear more boos than cheers?! And then you run out of the tunnel and I’m telling you… pic.twitter.com/pcM7rzMdyd

When asked about the meeting between the two teams “Down Under” Williams added that, “Nobody wants to travel 20 hours to play a football game,” but a positive for the 49ers is following that Thursday Night (Friday in Australia) matchup, San Francisco will have three-straight games at Levi’s Stadium.
While the 49ers won’t play at the Rams’ home field during the regular season, the team’s goal will be to head down south to SoFi Stadium in February for Super Bowl LXI.
