The Atlanta Falcons took care of one of their young stars this week, signing wide receiver Drake London to a four-year, $141 million extension that could be worth up $150 million and includes $100 million in guaranteed money. That’s not a bad chunk of change for the 24-year-old, but it will certainly take its toll on the Falcons’ salary cap.
London is set to earn $16.8 million this season on his fifth-year option before his extension kicks in next year. Starting in 2026, the former top-10 pick will average $35.25 million per season over the next four years. The Falcons have some other big contracts coming up, including Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, Ryan Neuzil and Matthew Bergeron.
Others, such as Chris Lindstrom and Jake Matthews, are already making big money from prior extensions. Lindstrom leads the team with a cap hit of $26.25 million this season. Matthews is third with a cap hit of $16.7 million.
