The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most talented wide receiver rooms in the NFL, and arguably the most talented WR unit in the NFC East.

While the Cowboys’ depth at the position leaves much to be desired, their top options are challenging to contain every week.

George Pickens led Dallas with 93 receptions for 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns last season, while CeeDee Lamb finished second with 75 receptions for 1,077 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

While it’s highly likely the dynamic duo’s partnership in Dallas will continue in 2026-27, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky believes the Cowboys will cut ties with one of them at the end of the season. Specifically, Orlovsky deemed Lamb as a possible trade candidate during the 2027 offseason.

“They’re not keeping both of them,” Orlovsky said on ESPN’s GetUp Monday. “So it’s going to be signing George Pickens to a long-term deal that they’ve been hesitant to do, or CeeDee Lamb’s going to be traded.”

“Both are great receivers, I think CeeDee’s proven to be a little bit more reliable I guess in personality maybe. I think there’s still some question marks in regards to George Pickens proving that maturity, but they’re not keeping both.”

If Orlovsky’s prediction rings true, it won’t be easy for the Cowboys to decide who they should retain for the foreseeable future. Dallas selected Lamb with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the Oklahoma product has displayed far more positive performances than negative ones thus far in his career.

Lamb, who led the NFL in receptions in 2023-24, has caught 571 passes for 7,416 yards and 41 touchdowns in 95 total games with the Cowboys, to go along with five Pro Bowl selections, two second-team All-Pro selections, and one first-team All-Pro selection.

Lamb has experienced problems with drops, though, earning the butter-fingers label in 2024-25 with 11 drops and last year with eight. Pickens has spent only one season with the Cowboys but has already made a lasting impression on the storied organization.

That said, the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver must string together another high-level campaign in Dallas if he wants to convince the organization to stick with him for the long haul.

Simply put, there’s much at stake for both contributors this upcoming season.
