LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Wan’Dale Robinson’s NFL offseason has brought big change— and a trip back home.
The former Kentucky wide receiver and Frankfort native was traded from the New York Giants, the only team he had played for as a pro, to the Tennessee Titans, reuniting him with quarterback Will Levis.
Robinson returned to Lexington on Saturday to host a youth football Pro Camp at Tates Creek for about 150 children in first through eighth grade. Campers rotated through stations focused on the fundamentals of football.
Robinson said he welcomed the chance to step away during OTA’s and give back to the place he calls home.
“Being from here, just wishing that I had somebody that was kind of like this in this position to be able to look up specifically to being from exactly where I was from, I feel like it’s a big deal to give back to these kids and show them that it’s possible to make it out of Kentucky and follow your dreams,” Robinson said.
He said he was surprised by the turnout and wanted to use the event to be a positive example.
“I didn’t realize this many kids knew me,” Robinson said. “It’s always a blessing. I’d much rather it be that way than the other way around. I just wanted to be a good role model for those kids and show them that anything is possible.”
Robinson also said he is excited for the Will Stein era of Kentucky football to begin and plans to attend the Wildcats’ game against Youngstown State.
