A lot has been made this offseason about where the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Hunter should play in his second NFL season — cornerback or wide receiver?

But what does defensive end Josh Hines-Allen think? While appearing on NFL Network recently, he was asked that question.

“On the field,” said Hines-Allen. “So being healthy. I think it’s jsut a priority No. 1 for him, but obviously he can impact on the offensive side of the ball and the defensive side of the ball. And so if he can be on the field all the time, then that’s going to make our team better. So for me to, as a vet to him, is take care of your body, come back healthy, and just come back as dominant as you can be.”

This year compared to last, Hunter is going to see more snaps on defense as he is expected to start at cornerback opposite of Montaric Brown. That said, both James Gladstone and Liam Coen have made it clear — on multiple occasions this offseason — that Hunter will continue to see snaps at wideout as well.

Hunter brings impressive ball skills to the defensive backfield and a natural coverage ability, which will benefit Hines-Allen and the Jaguars‘ pass rush.

“Defensively, when he’s out there on the field, man, stickier coverage, more sacks, more pressures, that’s the name of the game, rushing coverage and we want our best players out there on the field at all times,” said Hines-Allen.

As a wide receiver, Hunter is a part of a very strong position group for the Jaguars that also features Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers. Prior to Hunter’s knee injury last season, he appeared to be on the cusp of breaking out after a 100-yard performance against the LA Rams.

“And then offensively,” added Hines-Allen, “go-up-and-get-it, and he’s a go-up-and-get-it type of guy, and we love to see a lot of splash plays. We need that big playmaking ability and he’s going to be one of the best to do it for a long time.”

With OTAs taking place for the Jaguars, Hunter remains sidelined as he works his way back from a knee injury. Back in April, GM James Gladstone said that the plan for Hunter was for him to be at “full tick” come training camp.
