Sometimes, being forgotten is a good thing.
At least that’s how 49ers veteran fullback Kyle Juszczyk views it.
With the Los Angeles Rams winning the offseason so far by acquiring superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett, and the Seattle Seahawks fresh off their Super Bowl LX win, there has been little chatter about San Francisco in the NFC West.
Juszczyk understands it, but he isn’t worried.
“Yeah, absolutely. I mean, there’s no easy games here out in the NFC West, for sure, but we feel great about where our team’s at,” Juszczyk said Saturday morning on NFL Media’s “The Insiders.” “The fact that we won 13 games last season with all that we had to deal with, I think that’s easy to forget, and rightfully so. The Seahawks, they won a Super Bowl. The Rams had a great season, and they’ve had some great additions in the offseason.
“So I can understand why that is the case, but I think we feel great about where we’re at.”
Juszczyk is confident in the 49ers’ new offseason additions, as well.
Plus, the 13-year pro knows it’s not the first time people have counted out the 49ers. Maybe that “underdog” mentality can only fuel San Francisco heading into next season.
“I love our squad. I think we’ve only improved,” Juszczyk said. “The guys are getting healthy. We added Mike Evans, and Osa Odighizuwa on defense, which I think both of those guys are going to make such an impact. I think we’re sitting in a good spot. If people want to forget about us, that’s fantastic. That’s a good place to be sometimes.”
