The Arizona Cardinals already have some quarterback drama this offseason, as presumed starter Jacoby Brissett has been in a contract dispute. He did not report for any of the voluntary part of the offseason program, and he did not practice in mandatory minicamp.
He is seeking a raise for 2026, as he is scheduled to make $4.9 million in salary and wants to be paid like a starter if he is going to be the starter.
He only has $1.5 million in salary guarantees for 2026.
That drama would likely come to a quick conclusion if the Cardinals decide to acquire quarterback Brendan Sorsby in the NFL supplemental draft next month.
Sorsby, applying for the supplemental draft because he is ineligible to play for Texas Tech in 2026 after he admitted to betting tens of thousands of dollars on sports, including college sports and on his own team and school, while he was at Indiana and Cincinnati.

Sorsby is one of the better quarterback prospects for next year and might have been a first-round pick in 2027 with a good season for the Red Raiders.
If the Cardinals were to select him in the supplemental draft, Brissett would likely see an end of his tenure in Arizona.
Adding Sorsby would mean five quarterbacks on the roster. They signed Gardner Minshew this offseason and he has taken all the offseason first-team reps. They drafted Carson Beck in the third round. Neither one of them would be cut or traded. They have Kedon Slovis, but he won’t make the roster anyway.
Selecting Sorsby would mean carrying two promising young quarterbacks with him and Beck. That would push Brissett out of the picture. He would either be traded or released outright, in which case the Cardinals would still owe him $1.5 million.
While Brissett might be the best option for 2026, the Cardinals are still projected to one of the worst teams, if not the worst team, in the NFL even with him starting.
Taking Sorsby and moving on from Brissett won’t make them significantly worse, but it would make them a more intriguing team for the future with two young rookies with starter potential and a veteran in Minshew who, at minimum, is fun to watch.
