Some major changes are coming to the Tennessee Titans offense, but the backfield will be among the positions that bring the most continuity.

As head coach Brian Callahan enters his second season at the helm coming off a 3-14 season, his main job will be getting No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward up to speed in a wide-open AFC South division. Getting some help from the backfield should further that development.

Going into the second of a three-year deal he signed with the Titans last offseason, running back Tony Pollard is looking to put together his fourth-consecutive campaign with at least 1,000 rushing yards.

The Memphis product took 260 carries for 1,079 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns while adding 41 receptions for 238 receiving yards.

Entering the 2025 season, Pollard was ranked as the No. 18 running back in the NFL by Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus.

Pollard’s 73.5 PFF rushing grade in his first year with the Titans was the lowest of his career. However, he has generated the fifth-highest PFF WAR figure among running backs over the past three seasons.

He also earned just a 51.6 PFF grade as a receiver in 2024, although much of that can be attributed to a roster that earned the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Titans are expected to run it back with the same tandem leading the backfield with 2023 third-round pick Tyjae Spears taking on the complementary role alongside Pollard as the starter.

The Titans offense will go as far as its rookie quarterback will take it, but having some reliable veterans working in the backfield should help expedite his development.
