Sources: Multiple teams have reached out to the #Falcons about the availability of TE Kyle Pitts.

Nothing is imminent, and Atlanta would prefer to keep him — but I’m told it would take at least a Day 2 pick to even spark serious talks. pic.twitter.com/smNLgOcBow

On Thursday, it was reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers were looking at the trade options for Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith. This feels like a desperate attempt to patch up a passing offense that’s taken a hit after the trade of wide receiver George Pickens. And according to reports, Smith isn’t the only player the Steelers are inquiring about.

One of those other options might be Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts. According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, multiple teams have reached out to the Falcons about what the cost would be for Pitts in a trade. There’s been nothing directly linking the Steelers to Pitts but if they are doing their due diligence, Pitts is every bit the option is that Smith would be.

Pitts’ career has been all about unrealized potential. He’s never had a season like Smith had in 2024 but Smith has only had one of them and he’s nearly 30. We would much prefer the Steelers make a trade for a wide receiver to pair up with DK Metcalf instead of adding a pass-catching tight end. The Steelers have already shown they have no idea how to use the tight end position in the passing game. Adding another might not change that.
