Titans look for secondary growth as training camp nears

  • June 24, 2026

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Tennessee Titans are looking for improvement in the secondary as training camp approaches for the 2026 NFL season.

Much of the offseason discussion has centered on the defensive line and the weapons added up front, but the secondary is also expected to take a step forward after struggling last season.

Injuries and trades made it difficult for the Titans to keep players on the field in the secondary a year ago.

This year, the Titans added veteran presence by signing two cornerbacks: Cor’Dale Flott, who came from the Giants, and Alontae Taylor, who spent four seasons in New Orleans.

Taylor has played both inside and outside cornerback during his career. This offseason, the Titans had him taking the majority of reps as an outside cornerback.

“I know what they want from me, I know where they want me to be, and that’s an outside corner,” Taylor said. “That’s where I’m at. That’s where I’m honing in on. I’m obviously learning the whole playbook, right, so I know where my help is at, I know where Marcus is. So I’m a corner, but I feel like I’m at home. I’m right where I want to be. Like I said, I’ve been training as a corner this whole time throughout my career, so I’m very comfortable.”

Taylor, a Tennessee native, is back near his hometown after playing in New Orleans for the past four years.

“It’s super exciting to know I can just go down the road and see my mom,” Taylor told reporters after a Titans minicamp practice June 16. “I just bought her a home in Murfreesboro. It feels good. My family doesn’t have to drive seven hours to see me play. We can just go up and down the road.”

Taylor attended the University of Tennessee after high school before being drafted in 2022.

“They loved it,” Taylor said. “It was their dream home. They had no idea. I think being in this position, the most cool thing to do is get mom a home and be able to take care of your family.”

The Titans’ rookies are set to report for camp on July 23. Veterans are set to report on July 28.
