NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Blaise Taylor murder trial has entered day five with testimony from investigators, forensic experts and people involved in the case.
Taylor, a former Tennessee Titans scout, was accused of giving his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, a fatal dose of cocaine.
As the trial continued on Saturday, prosecutors questioned a Kari Midthun, a forensic toxicologist,
Midthun was questioned about a vile of Benning’s blood, testing of the comforter from the bed and the testing that was done on them.
She said during the tests, there were indications of meth and cannabinoids but were not tested. She said cannabinoids were positive in every test and seemed like an interference.
Later on during the trial, they spoke with a woman who was an intern for Tennessee Titans. She was asked about her relations to Taylor and if they were close or shared any close information.
When asked about if Taylor mentioned anything about being a father, the intern said how he said he wasn’t ready.
They also spoke with the lead detective on the case, Detective Adam Reese, with the Metro Nashville Police Department.
During the trial, Reese said he went to Utah to talk to Taylor and obtained media devices from him to bring back to Nashville. Reese said he brought back a Laptop, an iPad, a GPS tracker and a USB drive. He said he didn’t obtain the phone used by Taylor.
After going on a lunch break, the trial continued with Reese going over personal text messages between Benning and Taylor.
