MADISON, Wis. — Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden spent part of his day in Madison giving back to the community, hosting a youth football camp at Vel Phillips Memorial High School.
Golden — heading into his second season in Green Bay — helped run drills, signed autographs, took photos and spent time with kids and families on the field, even with rain falling during parts of the event.
The camp follows a similar community stop earlier this summer when Packer’s star pass rusher Micah Parsons visited Monona Grove High School to host a youth football camp.
For Golden, building that connection matters, especially as a player still getting settled in Wisconsin.
“It’s kind of like my second home now,” Golden said. “I like doing things like this, man. That’s how I was brought up… it’s always been about giving back to the community for me.”
Golden added that once he arrived in Green Bay, the transition felt natural — and he’s excited to keep growing with the fan base.
“It just feels like home,” Golden said. “Once I got here, everything was just natural… with the community that we have, I know each and every year [it is] going to continue to grow, so I’m excited for it. And hopefully I can do this again next year.”
