If you haven’t noticed, a well-known NFL reporter named Dianna Russini (The Athletic) made herself one of the lead stories of the NFL offseason when she was photographed during a flirtatious outing in Arizona with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel a few months back.

As it turned out, that was only the beginning of Russini’s problems. After the photos of her and Vrabel — along with rumors that the two were conducting a secret romantic relationship going back years — spread like wildfire.

In the months since, we have not heard at all from Russini, who The Athletic placed on paid leave, while their parent company (The New York Times) conducted an internal investigation into her relationship with Vrabel and other parts of her information gathering process.

Meanwhile, we are finding out Monday that questions surrounding Dianna Russini’s journalistic integrity spread much further than whatever was going on in New England, or Tennessee before that.

Watch Dianna Russini burn all of her MN Vikings bridges

Tonight, bodycam footage of Russini during a traffic stop back in January has surfaced and, surprise, it’s another tough look for the Senior NFL Writer.

There is a ton of background you can get into over this traffic stop. It’s quite the rabbit hole, if you want to travel down it. But new details rose tonight involving the Minnesota Vikings.

In the video (dated January 19, 2026) — which has to be one of the cringiest in internet history (and that’s saying something) — Russini tells the police officer that she was on her phone while driving because she was dealing with a massive news story that was breaking, the NY Giants coaching hire.

Russini: “Are you a fan of the Giants or Jets?

Cop: “Actually, I’m not a fan of either.”

Russini: “So, who is your team?”

Cop: “I’m a Vikings fan, unfortunately.”

[Russini grabs her phone and holds up her finger]

Cop: “Let’s see it.”

[Russini holds phone across passenger’s seat for cop to read]

Cop: “Oh my god, KOC?!?”

Russini: “Look what I said to him, just now. Go to the bottom.”

Cop: “Oh my god. Wow, pretty cool.”

Russini: “KOC’s awesome. Your quarterback sucks, though.”

Cop: “Yeah, he’s gotta fix it. He’s gotta turn it around or someone else is gonna get him.”

Exchange between Dianna Russini and NY police officer

When Russini finds out that the police officer pulling her over (in the New York area) is not a Giants or Jets fan, but in fact a transplant Minnesota Vikings fan, the longtime NFL insider switches gears, as she clearly attempts to use her job and connections to evade this ticket.

Transcribed exchange (Vikings portion) between Russini and police offer

Russini pulls up her phone, even showing the cop her text message thread with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell. After he reads the messages, she adds “Your quarterback [McCarthy] sucks, though.”

To which the cop says “Yeah, he’s got to get that figured out.”

Now, I know I’m an outsider to this whole insider game… but I don’t think sources appreciate you using what they believe to be private text conversations in order to try and escape the law. But like I said, I am not the expert on such subjects.

And hey, she got off with a warning. So at the time, she probably thought that was pretty cool. Probably doesn’t feel that way tonight, however…
