KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KWCH) – The Kansas City Chiefs released an update economic projection for their move to Kansas on Tuesday.
The team will be building a $3 billion stadium in Wyandotte County, a $300 million practice facility in Olathe and $1.2 billion in private ancillary real estate developments surrounding both projects.
The report shows that investment will generate $1.9 billion in indirect impact and $1.8 billion in employee spending, bringing a total impact of $8.2 billion on the greater Kansas City region.
The report also says that the construction period will support more than 36,000 jobs, with $2.7 billion in employee compensation and $106 million in Kansas tax revenue.
Starting in 2031, the team and stadium operations in Kansas will generate annual economic and fiscal benefits for the region, supplemented by more than one million projected annual visitors attending NFL games, concerts and other events. The report says this will benefit the local economy, including hotels, restaurants, stores and transportation.
