The Denver Broncos are in pretty good health going into the summer.
After a deep playoff run last season, Broncos coach Sean Payton pushed back and shortened the team’s offseason program to give players more time to recover from the 2025 season before jumping into the 2026 campaign.
After wrapping up mandatory minicamp in mid-June, Payton was asked if this spring marked the fewest days on the practice field during an offseason.
“Here it has been, but it’s been the most amount of days we’ve been in the building for the regular season, so there’s a balance there,” Payton said. “I think it’s just trying to read the team, the pulse of the team. We have a lot of things that we have to get to and a lot of work to do.”
That schedule seemingly went the way Payton hoped it would, as players were not overworked and no big injuries popped up this spring.

“Fortunately, I think we’re coming into the training camp pretty healthy,” Payton said. “There will be some guys that are here training and working on rehab. That time will come.”
The team’s most notable recovering player is quarterback Bo Nix (ankle), who is expected to be at full speed in time for training camp. Also sidelined this spring were tight end Caleb Lohner (lower body), offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo (knee) and guard Ben Powers (unknown). Denver’s players are set to report for training camp later this month.
