In a brand-new three-team NFL trade hypothetical, the Pittsburgh Steelers helped the New York Jets acquire a future starting quarterback while also shipping off one of their star wide receivers to the San Francisco 49ers.

In one of Bleacher Report’s trade hypotheticals, the Steelers traded wide receiver DK Metcalf to the 49ers, while San Francisco sent back Brandon Aiyuk. The Jets received Mac Jones from the 49ers and also sent a 2027 third-round pick to the Steelers.

Here’s a closer look at the trade packages:

Steelers receive: Jets’ 2027 3rd-round pick, WR Brandon AiyukJets receive: QB Mac Jones49ers receive: WR DK Metcalf

Metcalf didn’t have the greatest season in 2025, but the idea that Pittsburgh would ship off its top wide receiver in exchange for a third-round pick and an extremely controversial wideout in Aiyuk is more than a stretch.
