CLEVELAND — A major gift from celebrity couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is going to support students in Cleveland and New York, through the After-School All-Stars program.
The program was founded back in 1992 by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The nonprofit provides free after-school and summer programming for kids. A press release from the organization said they serve more than 150,000 students across the U.S. every day.
The $2 million gift from Swift and Kelce is set to benefit chapters in Cleveland and New York.
“At After-School All-Stars, we believe every young person deserves the chance to discover what they are capable of,” said Ben Paul, chief executive officer of After-School All-Stars, in the release. “Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce understand the power of hard work, confidence, and encouragement, qualities we work to build in our students every day. Their extraordinary generosity will help ensure that even more students have safe places to learn, grow, build relationships, and see a future filled with possibility,”
The release states this gift will help make sure more students have access to the following when not at school:
Safe spaces
Caring mentors
Academic support
Enrichment opportunities
Health and wellness programming
“This gift comes at a time when access to after-school programs is more important than ever,” said Andrea Bazán, president of After-School All-Stars, in the release. “We know that when young people are surrounded by caring adults, their lives are transformed. We’re thankful to Taylor and Travis for also believing in our programs, and extend our heartfelt congratulations on their wedding. We are humbled and deeply grateful. This extraordinary gift will make a lasting difference for our students and families.”
