Trevor Lawrence enters the 2026 NFL season with plenty of momentum after the best year of his professional career, but oddsmakers still believe he has work to do before joining the league’s true MVP favorites.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the former Clemson football star is tied for the 13th-best odds to win the NFL MVP award at +2200. While those odds put him outside the top tier of contenders, they also show that another strong season could push him into serious consideration after the strides he made in 2025.

Lawrence delivered career-best numbers last season while thriving in Jacksonville’s new offensive system. He threw for more than 4,000 yards, finished with a career-high 29 passing touchdowns and added nine rushing scores, giving him 38 total touchdowns. It was the type of production Jaguars fans had been waiting to see from the former No. 1 overall pick, and it helped him finish among the top five in MVP voting.

Despite that breakout campaign, several quarterbacks remain ahead of Lawrence in the latest betting odds. Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen is the current favorite at +550, followed by Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson at +650. Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes are all tied for the third-best odds at +1000, rounding out the top five.

Lawrence also trails a number of other notable quarterbacks, including Drake Maye, Dak Prescott, Caleb Williams, Matthew Stafford, Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels and Brock Purdy. That group reflects just how competitive the MVP race is expected to be entering the new season, especially with several established stars and rising young quarterbacks in the mix.

Still, Lawrence has already shown he belongs in the conversation. His dramatic improvement in 2025 helped change the narrative surrounding his career after an up-and-down start in the NFL. He looked more comfortable operating the offense, made better decisions with the football and consistently produced explosive plays both through the air and on the ground.

If Lawrence can take another step forward and lead Jacksonville back into playoff contention, his MVP odds could look like a bargain by the end of the season. He’s not entering 2026 as one of the favorites, but after last year’s breakthrough, few would be surprised if he forces his way into the race once again.
