Mac Jones does not need a highlight reel to remember his best night as a 49er. The equipment room has it covered.
Nine months after one of the most improbable wins of the 49ers’ 2025 NFL season, Jones revealed on the “Bussin With The Boys” podcast this week that an equipment manager printed out the now-viral photo from the San Francisco’s 26-23 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Rams — the one where Jones’ uniform appears to be coming apart at the seams — and asked him to sign it for the staff’s wall of fame.
Jones obliged without hesitation.
“Memo, he’s one of our main guys, he printed it out for me, and I signed it for him,” Jones said. “They have like a wall of fame, like best pictures — EQ [equipment] guys falling on the field, stuff like that. But yeah, they put that one up.”
The photo earned its place. Jones threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns and led the 49ers to an overtime win at SoFi Stadium as an 8.5-point underdog, while missing starting quarterback Brock Purdy and skill players George Kittle, Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk. It was the 49ers’ biggest upset win since 2011. Jones battled through a sprained knee, calf cramps and arm cramps — and apparently, a severe banana shortage.
The podcast brought up a viral image showing Jones being handed 11 bananas on the sideline to combat his cramping, with trainers logging the number in real time. Jones was quick to clarify — sort of.

“I did not eat 11 bananas,” he said. “But that’s a lie. Yeah, it’s a lie.”
The hosts immediately dubbed him the banana burglar. Jones did not argue.
“I think I ate like four or five,” he added. “I was mad at myself — I was like, how the hell am I cramping right now? So I was like, Tomo, give me everything you got. And then Dustin, our main trainer — more element [electrolytes], everything. I’m just chugging and eating everything.”
It did not work fully. Jones still was cramping through the final two drives of regulation and overtime.
“I just sent it out there,” he said. “I was cramping the whole time, but I ended up finishing the game. It was crazy.”
Crazy is one word for it. A backup quarterback, missing half his roster, eating four or five bananas on the sideline while fighting through three separate injury issues, throwing for 342 yards and leading the 49ers to one of their best wins of the season. The photo is on the wall. It belongs there.
