FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library has partnered with the Detroit Lions for its 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, offering participants the chance to win prizes including books, headphones, bicycles, tablets and a special Detroit Lions experience.
The challenge runs through Aug. 1 and is open to children and adults. Youth participants will be entered into a drawing for a Detroit Lions surprise, with winners selected by library staff.
“This partnership represents the heart of what we believe in at the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library,” said library executive director Desmond J. London Sr.
“When we combine the excitement of an organization like the Detroit Lions with the power of literacy, we create meaningful opportunities for our community,” said London.
The library is hosting a Summer Reading Challenge celebration on Tuesday, July 21 at 11:15 a.m. during its Games on the Lawn program. The event will feature Detroit Lions representatives, outdoor activities and free books for attendees.
Participants can register online and are encouraged to track their reading throughout the summer. The library is providing programs designed to support literacy, learning and community connection.
The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library was founded in 1851 and provides free access to books, technology, educational resources and cultural programming for Flint and Genesee County residents.
