Like many other teams around the NFL, the Los Angeles Chargers had a variety of roster needs to address earlier in the offseason.

They took action on a few of their most pressing concerns like running back and edge rusher, but they still have some holes to fill.
One of the biggest areas of need facing Los Angeles was their lack of pass catchers.
They did very little to address this with band-aid signings like wide receiver Mike Williams and tight end Tyler Conklin.
It is incredibly difficult to add impact players at this point in the offseason, but luckily for the Chargers, there may be one available.

He was considered a slam dunk superstar coming out of college, but through his first four years in the NFL he has struggled to consistently produce.
Pitts had one lone 1,000-yard season back in his rookie year, but since then it has been a bunch of hoping and praying from Atlanta that he can reach his potential.
Entering year five, the team is clearly concerned that this is just who he is and may never develop into a better player than he currently is.
The biggest supporters of Pitts say that the Falcons’ quarterback situation has a lot to do with why his career has plateaued.
If this is the case, then a pairing between he and the Chargers would be a match made in heaven because Justin Herbert would hopefully be able to elevate the Florida man’s play.

Schultz also announced that Atlanta would be seeking at least a day two pick to consider trading Pitts which would be the only roadblock for Los Angeles.
They haven’t been very aggressive in free agency or the trade market under the Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh regime, so it isn’t a guarantee that they would pay the price.
For them, it’s all a question of whether they feel they can get better value at the tight end position or not.
But at this point in the offseason, they would likely need to wait an entire calendar year before stumbling upon a better player than Pitts.
